Summary
Steps to perform a Secure Erase using:
- Solidigm Storage Tool™ (SST)
- Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit (Toolkit)
| WARNING | Secure Erase will remove all user data from the drive! |
| NOTE | The Secure Erase functionality is compatible on the following operating systems if the conditions below are true. Compatible operating systems:
- SATA: Supported Windows* 7 only and Linux*
- Newer versions of Windows* block this capability.
- NVMe*: Windows* and Linux*
Supported conditions:
- Solidigm SSDs only.
- Drive is not the primary system drive.
- No partitions on the drive.

SST in Linux* can secure erase both NVMe* and SATA SSDs.
Windows* can only secure erase NVMe* SSDs, unless using Windows* 7 (which can also do SATA).
SST CLI
There are three methods to delete the data from the drive.
- Delete
- SATA: secureerase, if supported OR Sanitize Erase, if supported.
- NVMe: nvmeformat, (using secureerasesetting=2).
- Secure Erase (ATA only)
- NVMe Format (NVMe only)
Delete
- Open the CLI as admin.
- Get reference to drive.
- Execute the command:
- Read the warning message:
- Type "Y" and press "Enter".

- Open the CLI as admin.
- Get reference to drive.
- Execute the command:
sst start --ssd <ref> --secureerase
- Read the warning message:
- Type "Y" and press "Enter".

NVMe Only
- Open the CLI as admin.
- Get reference to drive.
- Execute the command:
sst start --ssd <ref> --nvmeformat
- Read the warning message:
- Type "Y" and press "Enter".

SST GUI
- Launch the "Solidigm Storage Tool™."
- Select "Secure Erase."
- Locate the correct drive
- Click the "Secure Erase" button.
- Read the warning message.

Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit

Solidigm Synergy™ ToolkitThe Secure Erase, through Toolkit, is only compatible with NVMe* SSDs.
SATA SSDs cannot be Secure Erased unless using Windows* 7.
Toolkit GUI
- Launch the "Solidigm Synergy™ Toolkit".
- Locate correct SSD, in the Drives tab.
- Select "Secure Erase" tab.
- Click the "Erase Now" button.
- Read the Secure Erase Warning Popup.
- Click "Run Erase" to proceed.
